Therapy x Jesus

I’m so very grateful for the amazing husband and children that I have. I have been truly blessed to have such a great son and daughter, and even more blessed to have such a great spouse. My daughter has been here for two whole months and she is such a witty, observant, silly, and personality filled little girl…….but can I take a minute and be honest…..Being a new mommy is not all sunshine and blue skies PPD is so very real. While I’ve been enjoying my babygirl I’ve also been in a bit of a slump. I miss how quick witted, sharp and beautiful I was when my husband and I were dating. I miss how even after having my oldest I still had my coke bottle shape and more importantly I could fit all my nice shoes and clothes……..

I’ve had days where I’m extremely low and just want to get back to some type of normalcy. However….. I'm aware that I do have a village of support and I don’t have to go through things on my own. Although, things do seem extremely dark and heavy when you have PPD and in your head you don’t want to burden anyone with your problems, at least that is how I feel. I did manage to find a therapist and thus far things have been going great.

Also, I started tapping in to the very things I’ve learned from my life coach, my perspective and focusing on the things I can control. Every day I make a to do list and it really gives me so much gratification crossing things off. I feel like I’m being productive and not wasting the day away. I also try to remind myself if I don’t get something done to try not to be so hard on myself about it, there is always tomorrow. To combat the negative thoughts and views I may have about myself I replace them with scripture and prayer, DAILY. No this doesn’t mean that I’m over PPD but I’m making leaps towards stronger mental health. Not to be cliche but reading my bible has truly given me great peace.

I know I can allow myself to sulk and linger in depression OR I can focus on the many things I’m grateful for and challenge myself to make strides toward my goals.

It may sound easy but its really not. The battle of the mind can be a very hard and difficult thing, with this being my second time going through PPD I just choose to not allow this to consume the very things I treasure so dearly. I recognize I do have control and I can and will be back to my normal self.

If you know me personally you may have heard me say this but I truly live by this phrase. It’s very simple but its a basic equation to life and the many things it throws at you.

If you THINK positive

If you DO Positive

If you BE Positive

Then POSITIVE things will happen

Lastly, be kind to people you don't know who’s really out here trying their best to hold it together.

P.S. I hope my transparency encourages someone to seek help to better their mental health.A better life start with a healthier YOU!
